Jon Cruddas is the Labour Member of Parliament for Dagenham.  Jon stood in Labour’s 2007 Deputy Leadership contest and won more first preference votes from Labour party members and affiliates than any other candidate in the contest.  Before being elected to Parliament in 2001, Jon served as deputy political secretary to the Prime Minister.  Jon sits on the management committee of centre left pressure group, Compass.

Chuka Umunna is Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Streatham.  Chuka is a specialist employment law solicitor by profession and has served as a trustee to various charitable organisations working for London’s youth. He has written for the Financial Times, The Guardian, the New Statesman and other publications. Chuka also sits on the management committee of Compass.

Writers and Contributors

Jeremy Cliffe is a Modern Languages undergraduate at the University of Oxford.  Jeremy has previously worked for the Party of European Socialists in Brussels and the British Council.  He is the convenor of Compass in Oxford.

Joe Laking is a Gender and Social Policy Masters student at the London School of Economics.  Previously Joe worked at the NASUWT and for David Howarth MP.

Tom Miller is Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Woking. Tom works in PR, marketing and new media. He is one of Labour’s youngest candidates and originally came into politics through blogging.

Nancy Platts is Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Brighton Pavilion. She has worked for the TSSA and the Greater London Authority as well as with a variety of campaigning organisations including the Daycare Trust, End Child Poverty and the Fawcett Society.

Stephen Cowan is the Leader of the Opposition in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. He was chair of housing for all London borough up until the 2006 London local elections.

Ravi Subramanian is UNISON’s Regional Head of Local Government in the East Midlands.

Jasmine Pilgrem has been a resident of Hammersmith & Fulham for 25 years, and is an active member of Ashchurch Residents’ Association. She has worked in the music industry for 20 years and is passionate about protecting London’s urban environment.
